Meet Sarah

It all started when...

Sarah is the Director of Oncology Exercise and Physiotherapy at Lift Cancer Care Services. With 20 years of experience as a Physiotherapist in both public and private sectors and has specialised exclusively in oncology since 2018. Sarah is dedicated to helping cancer patients stay active from diagnosis through treatment and beyond, focusing on reducing the side effects of cancer treatments and maintaining patients' function and quality of life.

Sarah earned her physiotherapy qualifications from the University of South Australia in 2004. She has completed specialised oncology physiotherapy training through PINC and STEEL International and is a certified Oncology Rehabilitation Physiotherapist. In 2021, she achieved lymphoedema accreditation through the ALERT program at Macquarie University. Additionally, Sarah is an ALA-accredited Lymphoedema Therapist and an approved prescriber for the SA Lymphoedema Compression Garment Subsidy Scheme.

As an Accredited Lymphoedema Therapist, Sarah is passionate about reducing the incidence of cancer-related lymphoedema and providing early intervention to minimise symptoms and the risk of disease progression. She believes a holistic approach to patient care is essential for improving the quality of life and outcomes for cancer patients, utilising a multidisciplinary team to optimise patient care.

Sarah has a strong background in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, Clinical Pilates, persistent pain conditions, and women’s health, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. She has worked individually with cancer patients from diagnosis through survivorship and has led cancer-specific group exercise programs, including a Stand-Up Paddleboarding initiative.

Inspired to work in oncology after witnessing the detrimental impact of cancer treatments on patients' quality of life and function, Sarah is also passionate about educating and mentoring clinicians in the growing fields of oncology exercise physiology and physiotherapy.
